Job Title: Events Coordinator
Email: gsaevent@uwaterloo.ca
Job Description: The primary purpose of this position is to assist with the operation and strategic planning of the Graduate Student Association’s (GSA) wellness events. This position will support ongoing and future student wellness events, per the direction of the GSA VP Administration.
Meet Maria: I am a Master of Environment and Business candidate at the University of Waterloo and University of Guelph Environmental Governance Alumni. I have a passion for addressing global issues regarding sustainability, environmental justice and climate change. I aim to leverage my academic, work, and personal experiences to deliver intersectional solutions that build a better future for all.
Where is your go to lunch spot on or around campus? What do you order?
I’m pretty new to campus, but I absolutely love an iced americano from the grad house!
If you could spend the rest of your life doing only one thing, what would it be?
I was born in Turtle Island (Canada), but both of my parents are Greek-Cypriot. Aligned with my cultural heritage and genetics it’s become increasingly apparent that I do not do well with the cold weather. If I could live by a beach, swim, eat local seafood and enjoy the sunshine every day it would be my dream!
What characteristic of yours do you think will be most utilised in your role at GSA-UW?
I am very outgoing and extroverted at heart. I love working with other people to develop new ideas through collaboration. When planning events for the GSA, I aim to draw on these characteristics to facilitate and deliver many innovative, fun and meaningful events that will connect and strengthen our graduate community.
