Fatoumatta Camara(she/her) is pursuing a Master of Peace and Conflict Studies at Conrad Grebel University College. She holds four years of working experience in Community Engagements after her undergraduate degree in Political Science.
In her role as council chair, she schedules and presides over council meetings and ensures the participation and engagement of Councilors by proposing yearly schedules for council meetings for councillors to discuss the concerns of their constituents. She ensures councilor vacancies are filled. She attends board meetings and keeps the Board informed of the council’s concerns. Council Chair is also responsible for chairing the Executive Committee, and ensuring councillors receive adequate training to carry out their duties effectively.
Throughout her academic career, Fatoumatta has been actively involved in student governance and leadership. She served as the Vice President of her University Debate Association during her undergrad and served as the first female auditor general of her department’s student executive council. In these roles, she has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills and has been instrumental in organizing successful student events and initiatives.
In addition to her academic and leadership achievements, Fatoumatta is passionate about social justice and advocacy. She volunteers with several organizations dedicated to promoting equality and inclusion.
Fatoumatta’s personal interests include hiking, attending poetry recitals and spending time with her friends and family. She values authenticity, collaboration and creativity and kindness and embodies these values in her leadership style.
