Bara’ Abdallah AlShurman (she/her) is a 3rd year PhD Candidate in the School of Public Health Sciences at the University of Waterloo with a specialization in Epidemiology and Biostatistics. She completed her undergraduate degree in Dentistry and her master’s in Public Health/Maternal and Child Health at Jordan University of Science and Technology.

She is interested in reducing the gap in social disparities and dealing with health problems affecting vulnerable communities. While at her PhD study, she decided to expand her research areas and focus on vaccine hesitancy as it is one of the emerging devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Mixed with her previous interest, she tried to create an amalgamated academic track that introduced her to marginalized groups and how they are more negatively affected by COVID-19 and vaccine hesitancy.

Bara’ is a hardworking person, an enthusiastic student with an aspiration toward excellence. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, swimming, dancing, and taking pictures of nature and herself.

She is excited to be in the GSA community and believes that our team will take the GSA to a brighter pathway.
