GSA-UW Philanthropy Initiative Fund
The GSA is excited to announce the 4 recipients of the 2021-2022 Philanthropy Fund Initiative!
What is the Philanthropy Initiative Fund?
The GSA-UW Philanthropy Initiative Fund aims to identify and nominate local community-based organizations in the Waterloo Region that are meeting community needs. These include but are not limited to, environmental sustainability, mental wellness, and accessibility. This community engagement initiative is steered towards cultivating solid and positive relationships with our broader community.
How are the Recipient Organizations Selected?
An open, two-month nomination process saw graduate students nominate 12 community-based organizations throughout Waterloo Region, making the fund’s finalists list. Next, a final vote open to members of the GSA-UW Council was held between January-February to select 4 final recipient organizations- each pertaining to one of the four GSA political positions.
The final recipients of the Philanthropy Fund Initiative will receive a $1,000 CAD donation for their ongoing contributions to the Waterloo Region community and serve as a focal point for the GSA’s strategic partnership engagement for the academic year.
